Spring membership update

If you are reading this, you most likely have paid your 2024-25 year dues — Thank you! We’ll begin collecting the annual dues for the upcoming 2025-26 season in May.

You will receive an email requesting your dues and payment through our online membership portal. We hope this will streamline the board’s work by eliminating paper forms and checks while making it easier for you to be reminded and pay your dues. Look for that email reminder in early May. Again, this will be for the collection of dues from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.  New members will be able to join by visiting our website.

Your dues at work. Your dues entitle you to vote at our HFRLA annual member meeting in June and enable the board committees to do water testing, invasive weed control and fisheries monitoring, attend educational events, and fund our administrative expenses.

Volunteer contributions. In addition to monetary contributions, many HFRLA members devote countless volunteer hours to attending meetings, preparing for the annual meeting, talking with other lake associations, attending seminars, working on the website and newsletters, coordinating with the DNR and Town of Boulder Junction, and monitoring our lakes for animals, fowl, fish, and invasive species.

Current membership. For this year, 2024-25, we have 91 family memberships, one business membership, and one friend membership. This is below the normal range of membership numbers. We have over 400 landowners on the lakes or within one mile of our lakes and the Manitowish River. Please invite your neighbors (particularly the new and younger ones) to join us in improving communications and sharing information to maintain our beautiful lakes and surrounding areas.

P.S. I’m always looking for volunteers to help on the membership committee!
